Description
Description of the Role: The Inter Analyst is a trainee with either the Proteins or Crops Groups. The responsibilities cover two main areas: Analysis Learning and developing skills within the Proteins or Crops Team, including supporting in fundamental supply/demand analysis for the assigned commodity group(s), analytical project work within the assigned teams (Proteins or Crops) and filling in with daily market commentary as needed. The intern is responsible for learning models, understanding the price forecasting method and providing backup for the team. Data and analysis development Learn and assist in the analytical process within the research teams – updating and refining existing models to deliver a better service to clients. Working projects along with the data team to increase the use of automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning – improving efficiency and increasing speed and scope of analysis. Working on projects to help build out analytical work to develop a more global crops service through IEG Vantage. Adding to and improving the website experience and content through quality analysis additions of relevant data.
Qualifications
Required Skills • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Economics or a related field • Working on a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Economics or a related field • A strong academic understanding of the economics and economic analysis • A passion for commodity markets and how they operate. • Superior written and oral communications • Excellent MS Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint skills. • You have high energy and willing to work within a team Attitudinal Attributes Required for the Role: • Need excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written, verbal and via new technologies. • A positive person and one that is willing to listen and communicates at a high level with both staff and the client base. Information Classification: General 2 • A willingness to learn and apply theoretical economics in a market-oriented environment • Convey a high level of professional competency. Core Competencies: • The person holding this position is required to have an advanced educational background. A Bachelor and working on a Master’s in agricultural economics, economics or business administration is required. • A high degree of analytic ability that can be applied to both the proteins and crops sectors. • A willingness to operate in an environment of uncertainty and complex economic conditions, applying sound economic logic to the market. • Strong inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to develop trust and from colleagues. Key Performance Criteria: • Assigned IEG Vantage services delivered to schedule and standard • Continual analytical process learning across the Protein or Crops groups • High quality completion of the project assigned for the summer
