Data Science Internship

Agency
Enterprise Analytics Office
Description
Nationwide Insurance is currently seeking candidates for multiple Data Science Intern positions for our Predictive Analytics team, lasting from approximately mid-May through mid-August of 2021 (based on schedules). Our team, based in the Enterprise Analytics Office, is dedicated to working with business partners to develop integrated, end-to-end solutions that contribute to the company’s bottom line. As a Data Science Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work with real-world data, build and evaluate predictive models, and deliver your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ll work with enterprise-class analytic software tools and platforms including R, Python, Tableau, Teradata, and Amazon Web Services. Graduate or undergraduate candidates will be considered, from any major. Some statistical and/or technical background is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with graduation dates in 2021.
Qualifications
The Data Science Intern will take an active role on one or more projects within Nationwide’s Enterprise Analytics Office Predictive Modeling Team and participate in many or all phases of the analytic lifecycle, including: • Working with team members and business partners to identify, define and articulate the business problem to be solved. • Acquiring, preparing, and cleaning data sets from one or more data sources, some containing millions of rows and hundreds of dimensions. • Analyzing and visualizing trends and patterns in structured and/or unstructured data and effectively communicating relevant insights in support of business problem solving. • Building, evaluating, and documenting predictive models and sharing findings with the team and business partners. If you are interested in applying, please send your resume and cover letter to Josh Mills (millj148@nationwide.com).
