Description
This position is a staff position on the Programs Planning Staff located at the State Office in Temple, Texas. The incumbent provides technical assistance as an Economist for conservation planning and related training. Because of the multi-disciplinary interaction required of the staff in multi-objective planning activities, the incumbent will integrate his/her activities with the other staff disciplines. Develops economic resource data for all Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) activities related to resource planning. Provides staff leadership for economic phases of natural resource planning activities. Prepares economic tables and narrative for inclusion in the natural resources plans. Collaborates with other agencies in collecting, assembling, and summarizing economic data obtained by interviews concerning damages and frequency of occurrence of damages. Participates in interdisciplinary planning teams in formulation arid analysis of plans. Estimates benefits of planned works of improvement.
Qualifications
economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes: Determining research methods, compiling and analyzing relevant economic data, and making recommendations for conservation planning; Conducting evaluations and outcome studies; Developing various technical or analytical reports and presenting clear technical findings in support of natural resource planning. Note: There is no education substitution for the GS-12 level.
